Sabbia vulcanica. Yes it was really slippery on the ashcovered streets in the south-eastern parts of the Etna region . Cleaning the streets of Zafferana from a never ending ash layer which was covering the whole region up to
20 cm. Amass of fallen ash was transportet by trucks abroad the city limits.
From the glowing lavaflow threatened forests flanks and 'observers' were protected with planes and helicopters.100 m before my standpoint the hatch openend and a delightfull refreshment cooled me down. The sicilian temperatures in July together with a 950 °C lava tongue was
murderous.
